An Alternative Remembrance Day Service

Today let us take some time to remember all of those unfortunate soldiers of past and current wars who have died without honour because of their countries, and let us try our best to remember them for who they were before they were forced into a life of murdering and attempting the murders of strangers living in foreign lands. And let us vow to stand in solidarity against current wars and help all our young people make a good living without having them herded into warfare through desperation by denying them their basic human needs through the stripping down of all social support systems.

Today I would like for us all to think about ways in which we can stop people from joining the government departments of violence called the US and Canadian Armies, and ways we can help one another understand the true nature of war and armies, so that we are no longer fooled by the military lies of peace-building, adventure, honour, freedom fighting, and collateral damage. And let us stand in solidarity against the corporate and government financial institutions that are so heartless as to commit these huge mass murders called war, and stand in solidarity against them for being so cowardly as to fool our neighbours, sons, and daughters into doing their dirty work for them. And let us be mindful of  how, when politicians are talking about the ‘economy’ that it includes all of the economically motivated murders that the Canadian and American government’s are supporting with Armed Force, chiefly for the continued overdevelopment of the weapons and oil industries which are already producing far more than humanity and the earth will ever, ever need.

And let us not forget how counterproductive it is to resolve problems with murder.

Murder creates highly negative energies such as fear and then vengeance in the family and comrades of the murdered, and guilt, denial, and lifelessness in the murderer. These energies can lead into anger, hate, and more murder, against the family, comrades, and person of the murderer. It is also counterproductive to purposefully injure others in order to resolve problems, for those very same reasons, and anything gained through the result of murder and assault is likely to be lost, at the national level, through more murder, and more assault. Plus, what is gained through cruel aggressive acts will not bring the possessor any happiness. Happiness can only come from having obtained what they desire cooperatively and through good faith. Obtaining what one desires in any other manner will only result in negative energies such as egoism, coveting, and fear of loss and these are energies that can lead to further negative aggressive actions like assault and murder. This negative energy feedback-loop created by assault and murder stays in the psychological and emotional fabric of cultures for generations. Local aboriginals are still unhappy about our stealing their land from them, then destroying their rich and plentiful environment , and then pushing them into the regions that we don’t want. These wrongs of the past have not been forgiven, nor forgotten. And let us not forget about our long overdue formal apology for Hiroshima.

Today, as we gather in remembrance, let us also take a moment to reflect on all the poor innocent civilians of foreign countries that our corporate and government financial institutions have had its constituents murder.  Let us all share our embarrassment of having been represented by such a horrible example of social behaviour, and let us drop any notions of National Pride we may still have, and think about what exactly it is to be proud of a country that kills. And may we take this embarrassment we feel and turn it into affirmative action by demanding that our not representing government representatives begin to grow up and act like responsible human beings.

It is also important to remember how in the past government propaganda has fooled us into thinking that it is foreign people’s, and not them (and through them ‘us’) that are acting inhumanely, and into feeling like the obstacles to their material desires, (or as they call it the ‘enemy’) are not the same as us, and bad for the moral wealth of humankind. Let us be mindful that peoples’ living somewhere other than where we are, are the same us even though they live somewhere different. Now, let us have a moment to give a silent prayer for all those wonderful peoples’ in foreign lands affected by violence initiated by our representing corporate and government leaders.

And lest we forget the kidnapping and forced slavery of Japanese-Canadians during world war two, or the kidnapping of innocent Canadian citizens being subjected to torture and maltreatment today due to the government’s current fear violence campaign, they are calling the 'war on terror'. And we must be aware of bills being passed now that take the legal rights for those kidnapped innocent citizens to have a legal voice of defence.

Now, may we begin by pushing for a bill of law that requires corporations and government corporations to visit lands victimized by their thefts and mass murders and personally apologize for all of the starvation, homelessness, loss, and despair they have caused. Then we can democratically vote for the governments to cancel all of their corporate and government financial meetings and instead, spend their time in the rebuilding all of the human and material value that they have destroyed both abroad, and at home.

I feel so very sorry to have to gather on a day like this and to have so many sad sorrowful things to be remembering. It is very unfortunate that murdering violent greedy criminals always end up in power and that they keep effectively leading us into their mass murders, or, as they call it, ‘wars’. I think that this day is the perfect day for us to announce how ashamed so many of us are of our countries. Let us all stand together now, and say together – “I am ashamed of my country” and then take a minute of silence to think about all of the terrible things that our inability to stop our murdering federal and financial leaders has caused.

Let us then take a vow that when the next remembrance day comes around we will have not been complacent but actively engaged in the actions our governments take. It is only the inactivity of the civilian population that allows for government supported economic murdering to go on. We can elect honest, egalitarian, and civil people into positions of leadership so long as we take the time to actively work together in the changing of electoral systems to allow for the common citizen to run for elected office as effectively as the rich can. And we can stop furthering the destruction of human rights for dishonest money, by taking part in the meetings that our elected representatives go to and telling them exactly what it is we would like for them to do.
