A Swedish Canadian Appalacian folksinger, Sarah MacDougal and friends put on a great show May 8th. One of the best; complete with an interview with Cora Fields about the 'Black Crow Project'. The fact that I know all the folks of this show a little socially made it much more of a group thing and it was totally loose and fun. MacDougal's music is full of living and longing, deeply in the trainhopping hipster spirit of one very much at home on the road. I hope future shows get to sound as this episode did. Excellent community feel, and deeply caring and fun spirited performers. Her modest band is, 'The Heroes', and her talented roomate Cora Fields also played some of her own awesome gypsy spirited music.
Band members in house were the warm voiced Joanna Chapman Smith, and the superb Dobro specialist Tim Tweedale. |
